AGARTALA, January 11 (TIWN): Voicing for the introduction of the Local Standard Time (LST) in the state Tripura the Agartala Cycle Club (ACC) today conducted a brainstorming discussion session at Agartala Paribesh Bhawan (Pollution Control Board) TSPCB conference hall. A large number of luminaries from cross section of the society comprising of the MP Jitendra Chowdhury, Tripura State Pollution control board Chairman Amitaba Deb ray, Bank of America Vice President Saumen Sarker remained present during the discussion session.
Saying that the Local Standard Time (LST) is not contradictory to Indian Standard Time (IST), but it is needed for better utilization of potential men-hour, increase productivity and restore work culture in the governance the ACC today urged for the introduction of the LST in Tripura.
However it is mentionable here that for years, they have been waking up early and starting late. But India's northeast, which sees sunrise almost two hours before Mumbai, has decided it's time to set the clock right.
The ACC earlier during the month of November 2014 placed a demand with the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to declare a local standard time in Tripura. But till today no necessary reply could be witnessed from CM.
It is also mentionable here that a voluntary organization in Agartala-Agartala Cycle Club-that spearheads an anti-pollution drive in the city requested Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to declare 'car holiday' once a week in government sectors to reduce oil import bills. However, this was not the only reason they made such a request. Jayanta Roy, the ACC executive and a medical academic sought strong action against air and noise pollution.
