AGARTALA, Jan 17 (TIWN): Tripura Institute of Paramedical Sciences (TIPS) students’ protest has rocked the hostel premise after a few students were tested Covid positive. Students demanded postponement of examinations and RTPCR Covid tests of all students and faculties. Although the exam was postponed for 10 days the students are now forced to vacate the hostel which is a violation of students’ rights when students are paying for the hostel bills. Moreover, after students tested Covid positive, forcing students to vacate the hostel without Covid tests has been extremely criticized as it may spread Covid further in the families of the students.

Moreover, staying in-home or hostel has always been a choice for students. How can the authority force students to vacate hostels? Apart from Covid issue, students might have personal problems at home, and to stay in the hostel is the student’s right.
It has been speculated that to disperse the movement of the students, the TIPS authority took the decision of vacating hostels.
The students from other states will not have to vacate the hostels.
The exam at TIPS will be conducted on 27th January.
