AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN):Hit by Delta variant, Tripura has announced Weekend Curfew along with continuation of the ongoing restrictions up to July 17. Yesterday, a lot of violations by the public were seen in the state and police were busy to control the violations. However, today on Day-2, the situation was much more developed and the roads remained empty, no gathering was observed followed by strict actions. The "Weekend Curfew" was imposed in Tripura after checking the serious condition of the Coronavirus pandemic in state with the fresh blow of Delta(+) variants' existence was confirmed from Microbiology lab.
The "Weekend Curfew" has started from today (Saturday) 12 Noon and to continue Monday 6 AM and then the regular curfew will be continuing up to 17th July. State Police have requested the people to continue obeying Curfew rules as after all this is for their welfare.
On the other side, an economic crisis has hit the state and the middle class, poor are suffering heavily due to continuous curfew. For Agartala it is also 2 months that Curfew is continuing.
7 States have been marked under red-alerts as per Central Data amid the 3rd wave fear among people, which might approach within 1 or 2 months.
Recently the Central Govt team has visited Tripura to submit a report to Delhi on the increasing Covid cases.
"We thank the people for obeying rules. Only very few are trying to cross the laws and we are taking actions accordingly. Two persons are yet detained in West Agartala PS and they have to pay fines. If they pay fines now, we will release them", said a police official.
Rs. 1,000 fines imposed on the violators.
