AGARTALA, June 19 (TIWN): Suman Das, a meat seller, died after being severely beaten by a stone chips trader named, Shimul Das, in Gol Chakkar area.
Based on details, Suman used to work in a meat shop inside the Gol Chakkar market. On Saturday morning Shimul went to Suman’s shop and asked him to give him 700 g of meat but Suman gave him only 500 g. After a serious argument over this, Shimul allegedly punched the meat seller on his face and body and hit him to a pillar. Later to tackle the situation, the shop owner came forward and slapped Suman. A day after Suman caught a fever and was taken to the IGM hospital but after undergoing treatment for 6 days, he died. Suman was a resident of the Kalikapur area in Gol chakkar.
The incident has cast a shadow of mourn over the area and the locals demanded a proper investigation and a severe punishment against the accused. Shockingly, being informed repeatedly, the police administration didn’t bother to visit the place or to start an investigation.
