AGARTALA, June 18 (TIWN): From top-layers to grassroot level, corruption has gripped the Biplab Deb administration in Tripura. Amid statewide no confidence motion, protests against Panchayat Pradhans and allegations of corruption against local leaders, the public in East Laxmipur village panchayat today have locked the Panchayat office. Talking to an agitator, he said, "Panchayat is for welfare of the people but if Panchayat loot public money what is the need of such a Panchayats ? There are four staff in the Panchayat but no work is being done for common men, rather they are looting public money and creating hurdles everyday in various places in common men's lives. There is absolutely no need for an Anti-People Panchayat". 

Also nobody comes to this office in time and local people literally get no help from the Govt.

It can be mentioned here that Village committees have already crossed their deadlines but the members' got extension in the name of Coronavirus though in case of ADC council, power was snatched from the Left Govt and Governor took the control.

However, local people of ADC have been repeatedly alleging misuse of power by BJP through the Village Committees and opposition parties are too demanding for immediate election for the village committees.
