AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): The renovation work of the only dumping station in Teliamura was stopped due to pressure from locals. The incident took place in the seven-mile area of Khasia Mangal under Teliamura PS.
To clean Teliamura city the garbage was taken from the city to the dumping station, such an initiative was taken by the Municipal Council to keep the environment of the Teliamura city clean from garbage. It is known that the dumping station was built during the previous government era and this dumping station has been non- operational for a long time.
The Municipal Council has recently started the renovation work of this dumping station but the locals obstructed the work. At one point the area became depopulated due to the violence of the extremists and the people of the area left their homes and started living elsewhere.
Due to the area being depopulated the dumping station was set up by the previous government to keep the garbage from Teliamura town but it had been lying non-functional for many years. But now the area is densely populated area and if garbage is kept in this dumping station then the environment will be polluted and stench will spread from the pile of garbage.
