AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): Tripura Police annual data has shown that the numbers of murders have decreased in Tripura amid pandemic. Total 114 murders took place in 2020 whereas in 2019 it was 244. However in print based some of the local newspapers the data was confronted though. As per police headquarter data, Murder incidents in 2011 was 163, 2012 total 125, in 2013 murder cases 141, in 2014 murder cases 140, in 2015 - 144, 2016 - 144, 2017 - 124, 2018 - 137, 2019 - 144 Â and in 2010 total murders 114. In 2021 till now murders happened 37. However, Tripura's biggest problem has turned into violent attacks, political clashes and ruling party led house to house attacks. "Theft" has become the biggest challenge for the Police Dept and the data claiming theft has decreased is quite controversial as theft-based news reports are massive in the past 2 years. Global Crime Reports : The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime has stated in a policy brief in March 2020 that while understanding the long-term impact at these early stages of the pandemic is difficult, some things are clear: the pandemic has caused a decrease in some organized-criminal activities, while providing new opportunities in other areas, causing a change in the "organized-criminal economy" that may be long term.[Â
