Is Manik really honest in asking his party men to lodge complaints about corruption even against party leaders? What about the affluence of his colleagues in Cabinet and among many MLAs?

AGARTALA, December 15 (TIWN): Whenever an opportunity comes, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar does not lose the chance to give lectures on morality, honesty. In most of the times Manik Sarkar invariably appeals to the people ," Write me letters if you find any instance of corruption. And don't be afraid if any party man too is involved. Party won't tolerate any corruption." Continuing his on going process on Saturday Manik Sarkar again appealed to write to him or to the party against corruption. Manik Sarkar was addressing a gathering of people as part of CPI(M)s Jirania Sub Divisional Committee's 4th Conference. Again on Sunday, CM lectured teachers on moral values, asking teachers to stop private tuition at Tripura College Teachers’ Association (TCTA) 14th biennial state conference at Matangini Pritilata Hall.A large number of honest party members are now feeling very sad that Manik Sarkar, on whom they had immense faith, failed to hold a grip against the increasing corruptions. A senior state committee leader told TIWN," There are at least 12 MLAs and 4 Ministers whose lifestyles are not at all justified as a Communist. But even after getting complaints against them state unit remained silent against these corrupt employees. This has further encouraged corruption. And thus, there is no reason to believe what Manik Sarkar lectures on honesty and morality."

Interestingly Manik Sarkar again assured that if any govt official or any of CPI(M) leaders are involved in corruption, Govt will take action. In his address on Saturday, Manik Sarkar categorically said," Do not afraid to complain even if party leaders are involved in corruption. Recently some of the officials have betrayed with the govt and got involved in corruption and according they are now facing legal procedures." But Manik Sarkar has never uttered the name of Bimal Chakraborty, popularly known as Comrade BDO , who was transferred to the ICA as assistant Director even after the then Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury and the then Chief Secretary S K Panda gave note to lodge FIR against him for his involvement in the massive Rs 50 crore MGNREGA scam.

However, his lectures now seem to be under scanner even inside among his party colleagues. A top level Melarmath leader told this correspondent on Sunday night," Do you believe that Manik Sarkar himself is 100% honest in making these statements ? Who will dare to lodge complain against a leader who is really very influential? So many times party members informed the state leadership about the surprising affluence of a section of party leader so. But did the state leadership indeed respond positively? Rather many of these party comrades ,who made these allegations, have been sidelined from the party." Indeed, during the last 16 years many of the CPI(M) leaders amassed immense wealth mostly by unfair means. Quite surprisingly their assets grew in such a manner that might have even left famous magician P C Sorker stunned.

If one look at the party offices of CPI(M) he will be surprised as most of these resemble like the Corporate offices rather than Communist party offices. It is learnt ftom s highly placed Melarmath sources that during the last SFI State Conference held in Udaipur,  CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal Ritabrata Banerjee specifically told some young SFI leaders," It is really surprising that most of the party offices even the DC offices look like Three or Five State hotels from outside simply because of extravagance display." The source further informed TIWN that Chief Minister Manik Satkar knows everything. But he said that Manik won't do anything. " As long as he enjoys unconditional support from his party men and remains as Chief Minister, he is happy. So there is hardly anyone who will dare to raise corruption issue among the party leaders."
