AGARTALA, Nov 3 (TIWN): Massive loan-burdens have been suffocating the 10323 teachers' lives, when since termination on 31st March, 2020 as per law, their livelihoods were destroyed and the families left devastated. Seeking relieves from the loan-interest burdens, the teachers staged a protest before State Gramin Bank Headquarter. Noteworthy, when the terminated teachers are unable to bear the loans, which they took because they were in Govt jobs earlier and the BJP Govt promised to secure their jobs, but now left devastated due to loan-burdens and 360 degree turn of the BJP Govt. On the one side, they have no income but on the other side, huge mental pressures are on them from banks to clear loan interests. Seeking a relief from massive loan burdens, the 10323 teachers have staged protest which included various organizations of the teachers.
Ahead of the protests at the Gramin Bank Headquarter area in Radhanagar, massive security was deployed at there, just like in other protests the State Govt tried to suppress their voices with police and forces.
Talking to media, a terminated teacher said, "Like everytime, police are all set to stop our protest with water cannons but may be the police officials don't know what is called hunger, under which we are now reeling. We are not protesting against any Govt today, but we are protesting to get relief from loan interests, till we get our jobs which has been promised to us".
The teachers demanding the Govt to fulfill its promises said that they are now preparing for "hunger strike" as there is no other option left to them rather than that.
"Today police can shoot us but if after shooting us, someone gets job, we are happy ! Our next agitation will be hunger strike", said Dalia Das, one of the terminated teachers.
