AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN): As Forest Rights Act case was delayed on yesterday at the Supreme Court, former MP, CPI-M Ganamukti Parishad President Jitendra Chaudhury has raised question whether the Modi Govt is delaying the case.
He said, “Apex court didn’t hear the forest rights act on date. Is this another trick by Modi Govt ?”
On June 22, CPI-M had staged massive protest here in Agartala to protect Forest Act 2006.
A massive rally comprised of all communities people have stood together in favour of the act’s preservation.
On that day Jitendra Chaudhury said, “As everyone knows, just ahead of Lok Sabha Election, few NGOs and Indian Forest Service’s former employees filed a case in Supreme Court against Forest Right Act 2006. The petition was filed in the name of saving the environment, whereas on the other side, the corporates are getting Govt landsmassively. As Govt didn’t come in support of indigenous people, thus SC’s verdict went in support of the petitioners. According to the claim around 30 lakhs families will be evicted fromforest landunder the petition affecting crores of people”.
