AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): After 3 days in the relief camps, the flood affected people have started returning homes as the flood situation is now better and water level is being decreasing. This time, there was so far not much complaints about distributed food and lodging arrangements but people have demanded a permanent solution to the flood problems erupt every year. Flood relief camps were closed in many places whereas still active in maximum places. “If the rain does not interrupt again then by tomorrow all camps can be closedâ€, said an official. Still 10,000 people are rendering homeless and sheltered in relief camps. The flood situation in Tripura is slightly better as Khowai and Haora rivers’ water level started receding, officials said.However, Disaster Management Dept is active and any time ready fescue operations if necessary. Govt’s management with flood relief camps including food distribution has been better this time.However, many houses are submerged under water, caused massive property losses.
2 deaths have been reported in the total flood disaster period.
Ongoing deadly flood continues to push multi-thousand people to the flood relief camps not only in Tripura but across Northeast. Tripura’s few parts are equally sharing pathos like Mizoram and as well as Assam.
Rescue operations took place 24 hours and till yesterday night around 18,000 people including women and children took shelter, which has however decreased today.
DMs said, all possible helps will be given to the people.
MLAs, political parties, social organizations have come forward to help the flood affected people.
Affected families have demanded proper compensation and permanent ending of flood problems.
