Kamalpur, Oct. 17 ( TIWN) : A wide range of allegation regarding partycracy and irregularities are being aired against the Nagar Panchayat by the local people regarding construction of an almost 300 mtrs drain near the Ramthakur Ashram area . Nagar Panchayat is constructing a drain of its own, without any tender near the Ramthakur Ashram area for last fortnight or so. Locales are alleging that in the construction, brick-chips are used without washing and full of wastes.
Moreover, floor of the drain being constructed on the muddy and filthy ground which surely will decrease the longevity. Again in the construction, when the entrance of every house has already been cut for quick implementation than for the sake of partycracy, the entrance of a woman leader is still kept intact. More seriously, no surveillance is there from the part of the Nagar Panchayat. According to sources, this work is being implemented, from the Share Of Taxes (SOT) fund. Such humiliation with the public fund has created much unrest among the local people. However, the Engineer of Nagar Panchayat while contacted, completely denied all the allegation. He claimed that, “Complete surveillance and transparency is kept in the work. Everybody will realize the benefits of the work, when it will be ended.” However, it is notable that, drain has always remained a matter of controversy for Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat. On the eve of last Nagar Panchayat election 2010, the Nagar Panchayat claimed of constructing drain worth 25,00,000 rupees which created much hurly-burly in the then election scenario.
