CPSU to stage protest in Tripura soon

Agartala, Oct 17 (TIWN): The Committee of Public Sector Trade Union, Tripura cell would stage massive protest against the fatal steps of foreign investment policy of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led central government in the coming days, said Member of Parliament (MP)- Sankar Prasad Datta said in a press conference at Agartala press club, here today.

According to the MP, the incumbent Union Finance Minister has marked around 12 government undertaking companies including ONGC (5%), Coal (10%) and Hydro Power Corporation (11%) to trade the share. The central cabinet has decided to collect Rs 45,425 crore and more Rs 15000 crore by selling the residual share of Hindustan Zinc, BALCO and TCI, he said.

While addressing the media, the MP said not only the foreign investment of government undertaking companies; the central government submitted various Labour Acts in the Parliament with an aim to reformation of the bills. If the Centre continues the reformation of Factory Act, Minimum Wages Act, Labour Act and Apprenticeship Act in such way then at a point of there will be no security for the labourers and employees in Tripura.

The MP further asserted that the committee sent a fax message to the Prime Minister Office (PMO) to stop disinvestment of PSUs shares, revive sick PSUs with financial/police support.

Altogether 150 representatives of 35 PSU organizations from 14 states had jointly staged a 2-day long protest at New Delhi in the wake of fatal steps of foreign investment policy by central government on August 30.

In addition, Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) in Tripura called for countrywide protest to ensure the alteration of anti-public policies introduced by BJP led central government with 12-point charter of demands on December 05, next.

To make the massive protest grand successful, the CITU has taken various programme Initiatives. As a part, CITU has decided to complete all the division wise joint convention by October and to launch campaign in favour of support the demands to the people.

CITU demanded; unnecessary foreign investment should be stopped, allocation of funds for the welfare of people should not be reduced, upper limit for bonus, provident fund and gratuity should be eradicated; the Centre should take basic action to prevent the price-rise, pension scheme should be ensured for all, the Centre should take essential step for the implementation of Labour Act accordingly including many more.
