AGARTALA, March 11 (TIWN): After much strives of state journalists, CBI finally to probe brutal murder cases of Tripura's young TV Journalist Santanu Bhaumik who was killed at Mandai and senior journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik who was killed inside Tripura State Rifles Office.
Tripura Journalists’ Union (TJU), led by Secretary Pranab Sarkar took a leading role since 8 months to possible the CBI investigation in journalists' murder cases.
Protests were done in capital city, Mandai, press jackets were burnt in front of Ex-CM Manik Sarkar’s residence and at the same time various problems were faced by his Sarkar's media team too after they demanded CBI probe in those case.
Today welcoming the CBI investigation decision, taken by the cabinet on yesterday under Chief Minister Biplab Deb, the journalists including TJU have withdrawn their agitation today in front of Rabindra Bhawan.
Chief Minister Biplab Deb was present on that occasion.
TJU General Secretary Pranab Sarkar congratulated the Chief Minister Biplab Dey for taking this decision. Before the election Mr. Deb gave assurance that if BJP come into power the government will take cabinet decision to investigate by CBI.
TJU hoped that the reasons of murder of two journalists will come out through CBI inquiry. It is expected that the CBI will take up this case immediately and start investigation.
