AGARTALA, Nov 4 (TIWN): Days after INDIA-bloc held rallies in Agartala confirming the alliance amongst the opposition parties to fight BJP unitedly, on Wednesday, the alliance plan resulted in an utter failure.
This happened amid national level alliance between various opposition parties including the Left.
The matter was revealed when CPI-M members rushed to the designated offices to submit nominations for the upcoming municipality polls, declaring there would be no alliance with the Congress.
On being asked, Opposition Leader Jiten Chowdhury told the media that the party is still in touch with the Congress and such problems might erupt as both are two different parties.
Congress then declared the candidates' list. What Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said was completely contradictory with what Jiten Chowdhury said.
According to Barman, the Congress members were not even called for any discussion.
“We are not from anywhere. Congress is a very large organization, and not like some RSP or CPI like small wings which shared seats with the Left,” said Barman.
“Even though Jiten Chowdhury seems optimistic, some negative force inside his party did not want the alliance to continue and so it happened,” added Barman.
Right now, Congress and Left both parties are fighting alone – dividing the opposition vote banks – which likely to benefit the ruling BJP
