AGARTALA, June 21 (TIWN): Centering the upcoming Panchayat Election, Tripura Congress leaders will meet Chief Minister Biplab Deb demanding a peaceful election.
In a press conference, Congress State President Pradyot Manikya and Northeast Congress observer Bhupen Borah told media here in Agartala that in each election and post election seasons, Congress supporters were attacked massively and the election became a farce due to attacks and rigging.
Ahead of the press conference, the Congress leaders visited across Tripura, met poll violence affected party members covering Sepahijala, Gomati, North and Unakoti Districts.
State Election Commission has not yet announced the dates for upcoming Panchyat elections but ruling BJP and other parties have conducted primary meeting for the election’s preparation. Sources in the State Election Commission has reportedly hinted that the election may be conducted on July 28. BJP President, CM Biplab Deb had a review meeting of his party and checked what are the situations going on in favour and against his party.
