SEPAHIJALA, Sept 17: In a major anti-narcotics operation, a joint team comprising personnel from Sidhai Police Station, 104 Battalion BSF, 124 Battalion CRPF and police staff carried out a raid in the Noagaon area under Sidhai Police Station and destroyed a large-scale cannabis cultivation site.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of the Officer-in-Charge of Sidhai Police Station, with personnel from the police and central armed forces working together to identify and eliminate the illegal cultivation.

According to the information available, the operation resulted in the destruction of one nursery bed containing approximately 20,000 cannabis plants.

Security personnel also identified 12 separate plots spread across approximately eight acres of land, where an estimated 80,000 cannabis plants were reportedly being cultivated. The plants were subsequently destroyed during the operation.

Overall, the joint operation accounted for the destruction of approximately 1 lakh cannabis plants, marking a significant action against illegal drug cultivation in the area.

The coordinated efforts of the Sidhai Police, BSF and CRPF personnel demonstrate the importance of close cooperation among security agencies in tackling organised illegal cultivation. The sustained field-level efforts of these personnel are playing an important role in identifying and eliminating illicit cultivation networks.

Further investigation is expected to determine those responsible for the cultivation and whether the land was being used as part of a wider illegal narcotics network.
