DHAKA, Dec 4 (TIWN): Bangladesh has reported five more deaths due to dengue fever, bringing the total death toll to 391 in 2025. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the fatalities were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation, Dhaka South City Corporation, and Mymensingh Division. In the past 24 hours, 490 more people were admitted to hospitals with viral fever, increasing the total number of confirmed dengue cases in 2025 to 96,067.

The DGHS has issued an advisory urging people to seek medical help immediately if they develop fever and to take preventive measures against mosquito bites. The ministry has also asked households, building sites, schools, and other establishments to remove accumulated water and use mosquito nets.

Dengue cases have been rising in Bangladesh, with the country experiencing its worst outbreak in 2023, which resulted in 1,705 deaths and over 321,000 infections. Experts warn that without stronger preventive measures, the country could face another devastating cycle of dengue.

Preventive Measures:

Remove Accumulated Water: Eliminate standing water around homes and public areas to prevent mosquito breeding.

Use Mosquito Nets: Protect yourself from mosquito bites during the day and night.

Seek Medical Help: Consult a doctor immediately if you develop fever or experience symptoms of dengue.
