Canberra, July 16 (TIWN) Australia's unemployment rate fell to 4.9 per cent in June from 5.1 per cent in May, the lowest level in about a decade, according to the labour force data published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Thursday.
It marks the eighth consecutive month that the rate has fallen and the lowest unemployment figure since December 2010 despite that Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria state, spent early June in a coronavirus lockdown, reports Xinhua news agency. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said the data was a testament to the "resilience" of the Australian economy.
