Heavy floods paralyze Jakarta after torrential rains

Jakarta, Feb 25 (TIWN) The Jakarta Metropolitan Region was paralyzed on Tuesday by floodsafter torrential rains lashed the city, flooding several areas of the Indonesian capital.
Indonesia's national disaster management authority (BNPB) spokesperson Agus Wibobo urged the more than 30 million citizens living in Jakarta and nearby areas to prepare strategies for mitigating the effect of the floods, reports Efe news.
In a statement, Widodo appealed to the citizens to share information on the severity of the disaster in their areas in order to facilitate aid distribution.
