5.5-magnitude earthquake hits Turkey

Istanbul, March 20 (IANS) An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Turkey on Wednesday. No casualties have been reported as yet, authorities said.
The tremor occurred at 9.34 a.m. local time in the Acipayam district of Denizli Province, Xinhua quoted the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency as saying.
The agency said nine aftershocks, measuring between magnitudes 4.8 and 2.1 were recorded.
District Mayor Hulusi Sevkan said no fatalities were reported in the area, though some buildings collapsed and some were damaged.
