AGARTALA, Jan 19 (TIWN): Amidst thousands of fake voters were found out in various wards, Tripura's election date has been declared.
Even CEO told that based on a particular person's allegation EC can't take action.
However, strict observations will be kept on the voter list, said a BJP source.
Assembly elections in Tripura will be conducted on February 18, while people in Meghalaya and Nagaland will be voting on February 27. Counting of votes in all the three states in the north-east is on March 3.
"The code of conduct has come into effect from today in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura ahead of the assembly elections in these three states", Chief Election Commissioner AK Jyoti told reporters. All the three states have 60 seats each in their assembly.
Tripura CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar while addressing at Melarmath regarding the voter list issue said that various media's reports on voter list are not right.
"Such news are trying to create a tensed situations ahead of election"
" Final voter list has been published already. Now some addition and deletion will be continued through rules and regulation. Unnecessary they are trying create problems", Bijan Dhar said.
"Corrections, additions and minus of persons names from voter list goes on till the nomination papers filling up process. Earlier also Congress tried to add some names of voters through Central Govt in previous election. Such attempts are highly condemnable", added Dhar.
