AGARTALA, Jan 8 (TIWN): Disappointing Birjit Sinha, Tripura's newly BJP joined MLA Ratan Lal Nath has skipped the meeting with Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath today, who was called to answer Congress MLA Birjit Sinha's charges brought against him for violating codes and conducts of an MLA as per anti-defection law. The BJP leader MLA Ratan Lal Nath on December 22, 2017 has joined BJP openly and officially, whereas his moving with BJP leaders began since a year. However, after his joining in BJP, Tripura Congress President MLA Birjit Sinha wrote a letter to Assembly Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath asking him to suspend MLA Ratan Lal Nath from his MLA post. Accordingly the speaker called both the MLAs together today. Birjit Sinha was today present with his lawyer Harekrishna Bhowmik in the Assembly. But giving a shock to the Congress leaders, MLA Ratan Lal Nath didn't come to meet the speaker, saying, "My Health is not well. Right now, I can not come to meet you".

Talking to speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath, he said, "I asked PCC Chief MLA Birjit Sinha to come at 11 AM today. Along with Birjit Sinha his lawyer has come. They have charged MLA Ratan Lal Nath, with anti-defection law and demanding Ratan Lal Nath's MLA membership's cancellation. So, I have to ask MLA Ratan Lal Nath about it and what is his opinion.  But due to his sickness Ratan Lal Nath couldn't come, but I need to know his statement on this issue too".

Talking to Birjit Sinha, he said, "Our demands are based on anti-defection law. As per Anti-defection law Ratan Lal Nath's MLA post can not stay".

Lawyer Harekrishna Bhowmik (also Congress spokesman) said, "As per constitution his post as MLA has been violated due to his joining in another party".

However, the speaker further said that MLA Ratan Lal Nath has demanded 10 days more and talking to Birjit Sinha, I will fix the time which may be 5 days, 7 days or 10 days.
