AGARTALA, Jan 8 (TIWN): Newly appointed TET Qualified teachers in Tripura have once again come in massive protest demanding regular-pay scales. In front of Gandhi statue at Agartala Circuit house, the teachers staged a mass agitation through silent protest. In banners teachers displayed their demands writing, "Stop Exploiting Teachers". Also banners were shown writing, "We are doing our duty regularly, but why the salary is fixed ? Some more banners as "Where is minimum wage", "We want rights to live" etc. Tripura CPI-M Govt had formed a rule to keep all teachers on fixed scale for first 5 years, whereas central govt is sending the salaries of the teachers at regular scale. Even after TET qualification, the teachers were appointed in various schools at fixed pay scale which has generated mass anger among the qualified teachers.
Whereas across the country TET qualifiers are getting regular pay scale, in maximum states with full benefits of 7th pay commission, but in Tripura teachers even after qualified in TET are getting fixed pay basis salaries resulted huge resentment among the qualified teachers. According to the teachers, for Education Quality the teachers had to pass Teachers Eligibility Test (TET), but after passing TET the teachers are getting very poor salary with 7970 rupees per month who are graduate, when 100 % salary is paid by the Central Govt. In this regard a protest were shown at Umakanta school ground demanding ‘regular scale salary’.
But the state govt even though receiving the full salary of the employees but giving them almost one 3rd of the deserved salaries. They also raised question, ‘Are the teachers matter of exhibition’?, while showing banners with silent protest.
Recently, the teachers also led a mass deputation the Elementary Education and Secondary Education Director.
