AGARTALA, Jan 5 (TIWN): "The number of Express trains even though has been extended, but weekly onetime service of express trains are not enough to fulfill the demands of passengers", such has been mentioned by Rajen Gohain after the inauguration of Humasafar express train. Gohain was addressing media in a press conference at Agarala Railway Station following the inaugural ceremony of Humsafar Express. Addressing the press, Gohain said, "Humsafar express's journey via Chennai will be helpful for the passengers who want to travel Chennai and those who want to go to Chennai for treatment, they can also easily go". "We agree that weekly one time's service can not mitigate the demands of passengers and thus we are thinking to increase the frequencies in schedule. Electric trains will also be given soon to Agartala for sure. Within a very short time from Rajdhani to Humsafar, Tripura got various trains, but we need to connect the whole country and above 50,000 KM's project is in hand".
"Agartala's Railway connectivity is expanding fast and this is only due to PM Modi's initiative. PM Modi has determined to develop Northeast. By 2020 all Northeast states will be connected by railway service. Only some problems regarding lands we are facing at Sikkim and Meghalaya”, added Gohain.
"Today across the country Railway is expanding its network, laying tracks to connect, join all the States", said Gohain.
"Within 2019 all Northeast states' capitals to be joined with BG connection", the Minister added.
"By 2019 the Rail Connectivity will cover till Sabroom, whereas the work on Indo-Bangla project is going on in already. With the demands raised by passengers, after the Election, Indian Railway Dept will start working to connect Tripura with Jharkhand as we have observed high demands of devotees to go at Deoghar via trains", added Gohain.
