Governor visits Garia Academy School in Atharobhola

UDAIPUR, August 22 (TIWN): Governor Padmnabha Balakrishna Acharya and First Lady Kabita Chowdhury today visited Garia Academy , a CBSE affiliated school located in the remote tribal areas of Atharobhola, around 10km away from the centre of Udaipur. This hostel (for boys' & girls') cum school is a privately managed school runs by Baba Garia Mission. CRPF DIG Ravideep Singh Sahi, Jamatia Hada Akra Khanjanpada Jamatia were also present on this occasion. Baba Garia Mission's state president Rampada Jamatia presided over the programme. The Governor arrived at the school at 10am. Both the Governor and the First Lady were given a warm reception with traditional tribal dress.

   Governor took a notice of the ongoing activities in the school. Later on speaking to the students and teachers he said," In life three 'Es' are importanat-Education, Electricity and Employment. It is really encouraging to see that even in this remote area Baba Garia Mission is concentrating in spreading education while many of such organizations would have preferred to set up mosques or temples. "The Governor praised the teachers who come from around 10km distance everyday yet maintain such excellent track records.

It is to be noticed that in 2012-13 CBSE X standard exam 21 out of 23 students passed in Div-I and 25 out of 28 students did the same in 2013-14. Among them a student namely Nilesh Jamati ,suffering from Otism, has scored 54% marks and recently Union HRD Minister Smriti Zubin Irani has sent a letter to Nilesh congratulating him on his success in spite of his physical weakness.

 At present the student strength is 533 and out of them 450 boys and girls stay in their separate hostels. Every day all the students are given Tiffin during lunch time and it is arranged by the School Managing Committee (SMC). Moreover, for the hostelers food, shelters as well as coaching facilities are provided with minimum fees.

The hostelers don't even need to pay examination fees. Principal of Garia Academy Suman Bhattacharjee told TIWN over phone," If we get adequate funds from Central and state govt for infrastructural development, we will try to provide education modern technologies. Our school has got affiliation to start higher secondary classes and accordingly admission will begin from 2015 session. "
