GUWAHATI / AGARTALA, Dec 27 (TIWN): Tripura BJP leaders are riding on Assam’s Himanta Biswa Sarma for 2018 election-battle and with a breaking note it has been known that after getting INPT in hand, the BJP is now to align with IPFT till Assembly Election-2018, a Guwahati source has confirmed. A meeting was conducted among IPFT and BJP led by IPFT Chief N C Debbarma, Mebar Debbarma and other topmost IPFT leaders. On BJP side, Jishnu Debbarma, Tripura BJP Observer Sunil Deodhar, Ram Madhav, Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma remained present. A highly placed source of BJP at Guwahati said that NC Debbarma was neither ready to step back from his Tipraland demand nor to join BJP. In this condition the BJP leaders left no other option to go for alliance with IPFT till election. Apart from that NCT, INPT both parties are going in alliance with BJP, said the source. However, State BJP President Biplab Deb was not present in that meeting.
Tripura Assembly Election is knocking on the door and only 2 months have been left that people will be casting votes. In this situation BJP is trying to woo the tribal vote banks to take a lead on the votes across hills.
On the other side, it has been a major jolt for the Congress as the party had appointed Congress's Working President Pradyot Manikya to woo tribal vote banks. Pradyot Manikya has posted an old rally picture in his social media claiming for managing bails for 9 IPFT youths.
"I am glad that as promised to the family members of the 9 youth members of IPFT. I have managed to secure them bail on charges pressed on them by the police. While law will take its own course these boys had come to me and pleaded for legal help during my recent visit to Takarjala.I would like to thank advocate Pijush Biswas and also Sukla (IPFT) for assisting me in this process. I believe in positive cooperation amongst all and this is one such example", Pradyot posted with an old picture, but anybody will be confused thinking it today's picture.
However, by getting NCT and INPT in alliance, BJP is now going in alliance with IPFT. Only time will say whether BJP’s political aligning with anti-Bengali IPFT to increase BJP's vote banks or down.
