TULASHIKHAR (Khowai), Dec 23 (TIWN): Mass looting of Central funds in the name of rural development and MGNREGA works have been continued in Tripura, triggering heavy resentments among the beneficiaries. Many times it was seen that all ready-made ponds are shown in website as created by central MGNREGA funds but after various complaints were raised by opposition parties and common men, Tripura Govt had started few field works in real, but this move is also ending pathetically without giving any benefit to the poor people. A complain has been registered to the BDO of Tulashikar R D Village regarding a half made pond of Harendra Debbarma. In the complain Harendra told the BDO that without completing even half of the work, the Implementing Officer has declared the pond as completed. However even after the complaining, the BDO has not taken any action. The beneficiary has accused all Panchayat members and the BDO to be involved in the embezzlement. When rural areas are suffering without ponds, here in town after every rains Agartala City is floating on AMC's drain-mechanized ponds.

However, MGNREGA scams under CPI-M Govt, were unearthed time to time. From High level Govt Officers to Ministers all had been accused for being involved in the RD Scam either Principal secretary GSG Ayyangar or DYFI General Secretary Amal Chakraborty's brother BDO Bimal Chakraborty.

In 2016, Central RD Dept.  the Joint secretary had noticed Tripura’s RD Principal secretary GSG Ayyangar for the he mismatch in the work completion rate since its inception and for the current fiscal year 2015-16.

In a letter to Principal Secretary GSG Ayyangar, Aparajita Sarangi, Joint secretary (MGNREGA) under central ministry of Rural development said that the work competition rate under MGNREGA in Tripura since its inception is 83.79 percent, but in actual it is only 36.4 percent.

Opposition leader Sunil Deodhar said in this regard, "CPI-M although claims itself as a poor party, but in reality it's number one commission-enjoyer party. The development of RD here in Tripura reached so much that Tripura has created more ponds than its actual area. Whereas Tripura's whole area is 10,491 sq ml, Tripura Govt 's report said that in water body creation, Tripura was number-1 with 16, 500 sq ml areas water body digging. The development is to that level that Manik Babu and his communist party have drowned into the pond of MGNREGA".
