AGARTALA, Dec 18 (TIWN): Even though Congress and CPI-M had been challenging BJP on Gujrat polls and CPI-M's mouthpieces and Melarmath located CPI-M's media houses had been constantly updating Tripura about 'BJP's poor condition' in Gujrat Vote Bank but Congress once again has been badly defeated at Gujrat along with Himachal Congress's massive loss and CPI-M is almost in vapour like condition in both the states. However, celebrations have begun across Northeast Tripura, launching various election rallies from BJP party offices. At Bordowali, near Battala BJP activists were seen playing colours and with musical instruments in hands. At the afternoon there will be more rallies, to be launched by BJP as Tripura CPI-M had challenged BJP with Gujrat election. On the other side, Congress Bhawan is undergoing more jolts as only two MLAs and few countable supporters are left in the party office.

On the other side, after the massive loss of Congress at Gujrat, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel on Monday said the Gujarat results could have "been different" if the Congress had aligned with his party."If they (Congress) would have formed an alliance with the NCP, then it would have been fruitful, and things could have been different," Patel told reporters here outside Parliament.

He said the Congress' "weak presence" in rural areas of the state also led to its failure.

"The BJP has presence all over in the rural areas, while the Congress lacks it and thus they could not gain," he opined.

The ruling BJP was on Monday set to retain power in Gujarat, while the Congress again settled for second place but with an improved showing.
Celebrations began at the BJP headquarters here on Monday with workers dancing to the beat of drums, bursting firecrackers and shouting slogans hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the party was set to win the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections.

BJP workers reached the party's central office here at Ashoka Road in groups from early afternoon after the election trends clearly showed that the party is set to retain Gujarat for the fifth time, and is poised to wrest Himachal Pradesh from the Congress.

The party had made arrangements for coverage of the results and had erected a tent for mediapersons to take reactions of party leaders.
