10323 teachers are divided into many groups, terminated teachers suffering from lack of Unity : Job-Extension’s plea likely to be rejected by SC tomorrow

AGARTALA, Dec 13 (TIWN): CPI-M’s dirty politics have successfully broken the unity among the 10323 teachers, who are suffering majorly from a crisis situation. A section of CPI-M backed 10323 teachers betraying the unity yesterday held a press meet and today holding rallies, slamming the 'ROAD BLOCKADE' by terminated teachers. But question raises, after 31st December, what will the teachers do ? Most important question is after 2018's election what will they do as nobody is going to bother for them ? If SC rejects the plea for review-petitioners tomorrow, what will happen then ? Apart from exceptional cases, the Supreme Court never considers review petition and when corruptions in recruitment process was proven two times most likely in tomorrow’s hearing job-extension’s prayer will be rejected.

The Supreme Court, comprising Justices Adarsh Kumar Goel and Uday Umesh Lalit, postponed the hearing after clubbing the three cases together. The 3 cases : 37795 / 2017, 377798/ 2017, 39674/ 2017 representing GT, PGT and Primary teachers will get the final judgment on Thursday.

10323 teachers are now eagerly waiting for the hearing on Thursday which couldn’t be completed today. The Supreme Court on Monday deferred hearing in the case relating to 10,323 government teachers of Tripura, who are set to lose their jobs on December 31 following an apex court order, prolonging uncertainty regarding their fate. The Tripura government school teachers have demanded continuation of their jobs beyond December 31. They have launched intermittent agitations, including road and railway line blockades in the state, from December 7 to press their demand.

The Supreme Court deferred hearing of three cases related to the issue, including the state government petition on the services of 10,323 government teachers, to December 14, an education department official said here quoting the apex court directive.

Education and Law Minister Tapan Chakraborty said the state government had filed a petition before the Supreme Court urging it to extend the termination deadline for one more year (beyond December 31).

The state government had also filed another petition - to vacate the stay on recruitment of 12,000 non-teaching staffs. The third case had been filed by two graduate teachers seeking review of the Supreme Court order passed on March 29.

In 2014 after some deprived youths filed a case against 2010’s teachers' recruitment and High Court had terminated the teachers following the illegal recruitment which was done, without following any merit.

The teachers’ lives still could  be saved by the CPI-M Govt as High Court had given an open option to the state govt saying that the jobs can be saved if the deprived youths are appointed in their respective posts, but due to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s arrogance the HC's verdict challenged in the Supreme Court by Tripura Govt but again on March 29, 2017 SC in the final hearing kept the HC’s verdict effective and fixed the last date of teachers jobs as Dec 31st, 2017.

However, the teachers are now waiting for the next hearing on Thursday i.e. Dec 14, likely to get the final verdict whether the service can be extended or not.
