AGARTALA, Dec 12 (TIWN): Even though it was highlighted that through cabinet meeting the 730 days extra leave was considered for women by Tripura's CPI-M Govt but later during the press meet it came out of Bhanu Lal Saha’s mouth itself that the leave was directed by the Central Govt itself for all states. Bhanu Lal Saha has clearly said while interacting with media, “We have implemented it and Govt of India under Child Care leave has allowed the facility for its employees. Other states will also launch it but we have launched it”. Saha further said, "A working women apart from her basic leaves more 730 days i.e. 2 years extra will get". The leave will be applicable till her child is 18 years. These leaves will be for rearing of child and taking care during her child during sickness. However, only for 2 children it will be applicable”.

Apart from this, the West Bengal Chief Minsiter Mamata Banerjee had already implemented the facility for women govt employees long before 2 years. So, there is nothing to hype about except election-propaganda.

Background of the leave-allowance : In February 2014, Saphla Rani made news for becoming a mother for the first time at a very late age of 57. Employed as junior manager with RITES (a public sector undertaking under the ministry of railways), she gave birth to a baby boy after undergoing 15 cycles of in-vitro fertilization, a physically and financially taxing fertility procedure. She claimed that despite her repeated applications for sanction of CCL, her employer refused to grant it and also didn't furnish any valid reason for the same. She has now filed a complaint with the National Commission of Women, which had sent a letter to RITES seeking a report on the matter.

However, under the Modi Govt  the decision has been taken for 730 days (2 years) of extra leave for women and also letters were circulated across states by GOI. Moreover, not only Tripura but all states will implement it.
