AGARTALA, August 18 (TIWN): Young Corner Club today won the Sukhomoy Sen Smriti Football Tournament by 4-1 goals above the other finalist GHT club. ONGC asset manager VP Mahawar handed over the champions trophy to soccers of Young Corner Club at Central Jail ground in Agartala. He said that that the public oil and natural gas explorer would continue patronizing the tournament.
The tournament was a great sign of respect to the late former Chief Minister. MLA and patron Gopal Roy handed over the prizes as well. He urged youngsters to come forward in participating in sports. Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya wished all participating teams.
“Football is a wholesome exercise for physical and mental development. It teaches us discipline, develops out sportsman spirits, team spirit, broadens our outlook and develops our sense of humour.
It is a great pleasure to know that a football tournament is being organized in the name of late ex chief minister of the state”, he said. The Sukhomoy Sen Smriti Footbal Tournament continued from August 12 till August 15.
