AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): Agitated journalists have burnt press jackets in front of the Chief Minister’s resident following the brutal murder of Tripura’s veteran journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik by TSR 2nd Bn commandant Tapan Debbarma. This jacket was recently given by State Police Headquarter as a part of identification and respect to the journalists after TV Journalist Santanu Bhaumik was killed at Mandai on Sep 20. After Santanu Bhaumik's murder journalists had demanded 'safety' factors for them but within gaps of few days another journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik was killed by TSR yesterday with 2 bullets. It was said by DGP A K Sukla that this jacket will help to save journalists and it will work as a safety-jacket. But within a gap of 2 months, another veteran journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik was killed by state rifles commandant at the TSR 2nd Bn headquarter, which has shocked the whole state witnessing how saviours became killer. Today while walking behind the dead body of Sudip Datta Bhaumik, the journalists came in mass protest and stopping the rally, they burnt press jackets in front of CM's residence.
Sudip Datta Bhaumik had written various corruption related news and also exposed the TSR 2nd Bn commandant Tapan Debbarma and yesterday he was called via phone with a news purpose but brutally killed him.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is day by day becoming popular as at Guwahati also his effigy was burnt. The journalists there had demanded Chief Minister’s resignation after constant 2 journalists’ murders under his Home Ministry.
