AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): Tripura will undergo total shutdown on Thursday as along with BJP opposition Congress also called for 24 hours strike as a protest to the murder of state journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik.
Earlier, BJP had announced a 12 hours strike and today Congress has announced a 24 hours strike on the same day. In a press meet, Congress spokesperson Harekrishna Bhowmik announced about it.
Senior journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik was shot dead yesterday by TSR 2nd Bn Commandant’s bodyguard Nandalal Reang as per the instruction of the Commandant himself.
Sudip Datta Bhaumik had exposed Tapan Debbarma in some corruption related news recently and 11 channels had covered the news.
On Tuesday, at the 2nd Bn HQ at R K Nagar state journalist was killed brutally allegedly by the 2 officials.
