AGARTALA, August 17 (TIWN): The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Sunday observed its golden jubilee and Janmashtami by rallies in different parts of the state alongwith the rest of the country. A central rally was held at Agartala this afternoon; similar rallies were reportedly organized at Kailashahar and Dharmanagar in North Tripura district, a source in the organization said.
“We have raised protests against slaughtering of cattle, urged people to unite under the stewardship of our leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen the unity and integrity of the Indian Union. We have raised slogans of tolerance and respect for all religion”, a leader of the VHP state committee said.
He added that the organization is eyeing to intensifying its activities by expanding its social works across the state in the days ahead. The VHP is currently reported to be active mostly in the North Tripura and Unakoti district. The influence of the saffron political camp was seen to be visible in the northern flank of the state.
