Landslide claimed 3 lives in Sabroom: Mother and 2 children dead, many injured

Sabroom, August 14 (TIWN): A middle aged tribal mother and two minor children died. Father narrowly escaped along with his elder son. Police could not reach the spot yet because the road is blocked. ‘Situation of the place is disastrous. Bridge and Trees were damaged and communication system is out of order.’ Says police. Sources inform that, the number of death and injured person may be increase.

Landslide claimed 3 lives in Subroom under South Tripura District today’s morning. Many people got injured. Search operation couldn't progress  due to heavy rain. Local police official and search team  trying to reach site. 
According to the local police sources, from late night to the morning due to heavy rainfall landslide occurred at Sankar Tilla which is 25 km away from Sabroom police station. 3 persons died on the the spot. Among the dead, a mother, her two children, a three and half month old child
and a three year old child. Many people were injured. However Manu Police station yet to collect the name of the deceased persons.

Update at Thrusday evening :

It is really very unfortunate that no financial assistance was provided from administration to the victims' families yet. It is learnt that for the last three it has been raining in torrents in Sabroom. In 11 places in Srinagar- Sabroom road via Belonia landslides occurred. Even the sad incident took place at around 3am on Thursday night but the Many Bazaar police came to know about it at 6.20 this morning and immediately it informed the Sabroom Fire Station. At 6.40am SDPO Sabroom H Darling rushed from his office along with fire fighters. Generally it would take 30 minutes to reach the spot but due to landslides at various locations the police and fire engine took the spot more than 4 hours. A TIWN sources informed that it will take more than two days to clear the road. 
      It is learnt that Jamadhan Tripura, husband of Ritamaa, the victim heard some crash at around 3am and immediately rushed out of the room to see what had happened. Eyeing the danger Jamadhan tried to awaken Ritamaa and his son Bhoyar but in vain as they were in deep sleep along with the little daughter Prantu. Within a few seconds landslides occurred and they were trapped inside the debris; fortunately Jamadhan survived from the disaster.
