AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): After BJP SC Morcha has observed Valmiki Jayanti along with the whole nation and claimed that Valmiki set example of human-power being a Dalit in his time, massive reactions are coming against BJP's claim especially from CPI-M.

BJP SC Morcha leader said, "Maharshi Vamiki, who scripted Ramayana belonged to low caste, poor, Tafshili Jati. From Ratnakar-monster how he changed as Vamiki Rishi that every Indian knows. After converting as a Rishi, Valmiki began protesting against the cast-system and the ongoing clashes of the country. He has shown the path that depriving a particular caste, nation can not progress".

However, the claims are not untrue as Valmiki was not an inborn Rishi but he was one of them who reformed into a Rishi.

The Valmiki (also Balmiki) is a dalit community of India. They have historically faced exclusion and oppression in Indian society, and are frequently affected by anti-Dalit violence and repression by members of other castes.

Some Valmikis claim that they descend from the Hindu sage Valmiki who is traditionally ascribed as the writer of the epic Ramayana.

The caste group also built a temple of Valmiki in Andrapradesh.

In the UK, the Council of Valmiki Sabhas UK claims to represent the Valmiki.
