AGARTALA, August 12 (TIWN): Job aspirants under the banner of All Tripura Deprived Unemployed Association have taken decision on the steps to be adopted following the Supreme Court’s notification to be issued regarding the UGT recruitment process. The Association adopted few decisions about their next approach. They hope to attend the hearing of the Supreme Court in the teachers’ job issue slated on September 12 this year. If needed, they would place their petitions separately before the apex court as well.

The High Court of Tripura cancelled all appointment procedures and norms were violated in recruitment of 10,323 teachers. A Division bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Swapan Chandra Das asked the state government to arrange fresh recruitment process by December 2014. The court passed the order on a batch of 58 petitions filed by those who had failed to secure the teachers' jobs after hearing the state government and the complainants.

The judgment mentioned that despite cancellation of appointments, the recruited teachers can continue service till December 31 next. It directed the state government to ensure transparent recruitment of teachers as per procedure and made a point to consider age limit of bonafide candidates who were denied job in earlier recruitment exercises.

Tripura's Left Front government recruited 1,100 post-graduate, 4,617 graduates in 2010 and 4,606 undergraduate teachers in December last year.

After that, the state government decided to appeal to the Supreme Court against the Tripura High Court judgment Wednesday on terminating jobs of 10,323 government school teachers. Admitting the state government's special leave petition against the Tripura High Court's judgment, the Supreme Court on August 4 stay ordered the fresh recruitment of the candidates for the canceled teachers' jobs, as well as stays the framing of the new employment policy. The Supreme Court later scheduled the next hearing of the case on September 12 next.
