SONAMURA, Sep 16 (TIWN): Madhupur locals have filed an FIR against BSF-174 Btn with the allegation of beating local persons at there.

Addressing media the locals said, "Being beaten by BSF is nothing new for us. In last 1 week 4 to 5 persons were injured. Such incidents have increased after the BSF-174 btln had been appointed at here", said locals.

"Even if we carry mobiles with us, it's also a problem for BSF in border areas. Before few days Ripon Barman (21) was injured by BSF that led him to be injured seriously ", said locals.

However, what BSF said in defence, it's yet to be known. Madhupur police have registered the FIR, but why such incident happened police is silent. Bike smuggling, Ganja smuggling is an traditional business at Sonamura and their main threat is always BSF.

Problem of smugglers with BSF is nothing new, but infact Minority Welfare Minister Sahid Chowdhury's role has always been suspicious, who was once banished from the ministry after his link with terrorist Mamun Mia was found.

That area is also an open garden for Ganja plantation but BSF has remained as a threat to the anti-nationalist elements and there is nothing to hide about police's nexus with smugglers at Sonamura.

One former SP of Sonamura told TIWN, "Everything (Terrorism, Anti-Nationalism, Smuggling)  is broadly open at Sonamura, better known as Mini-Pakistan".  Former SDM said, "Sonamura is the most sensitive, which has no administration but local smuggling-organizations run the business and they will never allow the border to be fenced at there".
