AGARTALA, Sep 9 (TIWN): Amidst much allegations against Naxals for killing journalist Gauri Lankesh, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has walked in a rally expressing his grief over Lankesh’s death.
Minutes after news of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh’s assassination spread on social media, a vocal section of the digital Right not only applauded the gruesome crime but also resorted to whataboutery to justify her killing and Manik Sarkar is not exceptional.
In Manik Sarkar’s own state from Anuara to many victims left without justice, but Sarkar has no time to walk on rally for them.
Lankesh, an independent journalist who edited her own Kannada weekly, was shot dead outside her house by unidentified men in Bangalore on Tuesday night. She had been a fierce critic of the Hindutva organisations and their divisive politics. As if on cue, right-wing activists started justifying or even her killing.
