AGARTALA, Sep 4 (TIWN): The practice of students-teaching-students held on Monday in Tripura schools as the Teachers Day is on Tuesday.

On Teacher’s Day many cultural programmes are to be held which are generally organized by Students for their teachers.

In Agartala in every private and govt. schools including Tulsibati, Netaji School, Sishu Bihar, Ramakrishna Mission, Umakanta Academy--- the preparation is on peak to celebrate Teacher’s Day.

The day was marked for the celebration as Teachers’ Day since 1962 in respect and deference of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was born on 5^th September, 1988. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a great scholar, philosopher and teacher of modern India and was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1954. He became the second President of India in 1962.

It was his wish that instead of celebrating his birth day on 5^th of September every year, it would be better to celebrate it as Teachers’ Day in whole of India.
