AGARTALA, Sep 2 (TIWN): State's premier institution heading for further uncertainty. NIT Agartala, which was transitioned from Tripura Engineering College although in various ways had been in news for better things but on the other side due to some rowdy students in campus, hostels have seen bloodshed during Ganesh Chaturthi. However, even though with the new Director Ajoy Kumar Roy’s arrival comforts have expanded for the maximum numbers of students, at the same time the goons or rowdy students of the College are now in problem. As per the sources, some students have started to call NIT Director ‘Virus’ that is no other than much popular film ‘3 idiots’ College’s director acted by Boman Irani. But a huge numbers of students are happy who came to the College for study only and nothing else. In that movie Boman Irani was put as a negative character for rusticating a students who immediately attempted to commit suicide.

But the same issues are felt by each and every Directors who want to keep his/ her College free from goons.

NIT new Director mentioned on Friday press conference, "All institutions have hardly 2/ 3 goons. In society also maximum poeple are good and 98 % people want peace. So, if we can control those few numbers of goons then it's good for all. Here NIT students are very good, so obedient but due to a section of students the whole campus suffers". 

Adressing the press Director Ajoy Kr Roy said, “This is the problem of our society. When we do not take actions, we are blamed but when we take actions and anything happen to the students then we are blamed. Students who were rusticated after a blood-shedding clash occurred among the students, gave warning for committing suicide as they are from poor families and some of their parents sold homes even just to see his son as an Engineer. But this is the last warning, even though I have rusticated them from the hostel and keeping signatures from the parents with assurance of no indisciplinary activities inside the College”.

Recently from a minor issue a massive clash emerged among the 4th year and 3rd year students basically. The issues were very small but the fighting resulted in hitting each-other with rods. However total 28 students have been identified related to the clash, whereas 3 among them were pardoned as they were limited with verbal actions only.

The Director added, "We had suspended the students for a whole year. But then the students not only cried and fell on our feet but also said they would commit suicide if rusticated as they are from very poor family. However, teachers are not their enemies but we have rusticated them from the hostel and this is the first and last warning to the students. But their suspension will be continued till their parents come and sign bonds to take it as their last warning and if any indisciplinary activity is again seen they will be expelled from the College".

However, the NIT Director has challenged for no further ‘Tolerance in Agartala NIT’ just as he did with Shibpur IIT.

The Director also criticised the pathetic conditions of the Govt Colleges, Universities for their damaged educational atmosphere.
