AGARTALA, Aug 19 (TIWN): CPI-M party leaders and workers , as instructed by Melarmath, proteted against Prasar Bharti against the so called censorship against Manik Sarkar's I-Day speech in Doordarshan& All India Radio(AIR) . Hundreds of workers came out to the streets and shouted slogans against Prasar Bharti in front of its office calling the decision as an "UNDECLARED EMERGENCY " . But quite surprisingly , none of the CPI-Mleaders not even CPI-M General Secretary SitaramYechuri spoke about why Manik Sarkar , popularly termed as knowlegde guru by his critics , spoke like an anti-national in spite of holding the chair of Chief Minister and that too in agovt programmed organized to mark the 71st Independence Day of India . Interestingly , apart from CPI-M party and its leaders none is taking any care of what DD or AIR has done in this regard .

However, there are a few puppet journos of Manik Sarkar & the ruling party barking in social media against the so called censorship though no one of them uttered a single word about why Manik made such a rubbish and political speech, that could have hurt the sentiments of millions of Indians , especially on an important govt programme. 

  It is to be mentioned here that the Broadcast codes of Prasar Bharti(both Doordarshan&All India Radio )do not permit the following :-

a. Criticism of friendly countries

b. Attack on religions or communities

c. Anything obscene or defamatory

d. Incitement to violence or anything against maintenance of law and order

e. Anything amounting to contempt of court

f. Aspersion against the integrity of the President, Governors and the Judiciary

g. Attack on a political party by name

h. Hostile criticism of any state or the Centre

i. Anything showing disrespect to the Constitution or advocating change in the Constitution by violence, but advocating changes in a constitutional way should not be debarred.

j. Appeal for funds except for the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, at a time of External Emergency or if the Country is faced with a natural calamity such as floods, earthquake or cyclone.

k. Direct publicity for or on behalf of an individual or organisation which is likely to benefit only that individual or organization

l. Trade names in broadcasts which amount to advertising directly (except in commercial services)

Without any hesitation one can easily find that Manik Sarkar's speech given on I-Day occasion was objectionable for its content in many ways. Purely like a cunning CPI-M leader Manik Sarkar spoke on this occasion targeting the Govt of India and its policy for his vested political intention as he began his speech on the Assam Rifles ground saying ," When I was coming to this historic occasion from my official residence I saw only a few houses(2 or 3 merely out of 100) where the National Flag has been unfurled . What does it indicate ? It indicates that people are frustrated about the policy of the Central Govt . The hopes , dreams of the people are different from reality." These words were really insulting to the Nation though anti-national Manik did least care about it.

  It is to be mentioned here that apart from CPI-M no other political party has yet given any statement about the said issue supporting Manik& his party . Even the so called secular groups like Congress , TMC , RJD , BSP and its leaders remain silent so far . This only means that all the major political parties might have agreed with the decision of PrasarBharati . All the speeches of all Chief Ministers including Manik's party colleague PinaraiVijayan's(Kerala CM) too was telecast on DD & AIR . It proves there was obviously some objectionable elements in Manik's utterance.

Refuting the baseless allegation of Censorship raised by CPI-M PrasarBharati'sAsstDerector of Programmes (Policy) SanjivDosajhcategorically said ," Keeping in view the sanctity and solemnity attached with the occasion the broadcast is meant for , the CEo, PrasarBharati , was also consulted and the collective decision taken at Delhi advises that the broadcast may not go with its existing content .

AIR/PrasarBharati will however be more than happy if the Hn'ble Chief Minister agrees to reshape the content making suitable to the solemnity of the occasion and sentiments of the people of India at large . "

Again Head of Office Doordarshan Kendra , Agartala U K Sahoo pointed out ," the allegation that Dordarshan Kendra , Agartala blacked out the Chief Minister on Independence Day , is totally incorrect and is vehemently refuted . "
