Dipa visited Tripurainfoway office at Jail Road in Agartala this evening. Her coach at the Netaji Subhas Regional Coaching Centre (NSRCC), Bisweswar Nandi and her father Dulal Karmakar, himself a sportsperson, accompanied her during the visit today.

Representatives of Tripurainfoway handed over a memento and a token gift of Rs. 25 thousand to Dipa as recognition to her exceptional feat at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow,UK this year.

Interacting with TRIPURAINFOWAY this afternoon, Dipa Karmakar said that she is attaching high expectations to the upcoming Asian Games scheduled to be held at Icheon in South Korea in September this year.

“I am happy to give my country a bronze from the CWG. I would have been even happier if it could be a gold or silver medal”, Dipa said. She said that she would work hard to make up for it at the Asian Games.

She later interacted with TRIPURAINFOWAY Managing Director and New York based NRI Saumen Sarker over video. Sarker is currently  Vice President of Global Network Infrastructure Solutions at the Bank of America. He is stationed at New York, USA.

Tripurainfoway MD Saumen Sarker congratulated Dipa Karmakar for her success at the Commonwealth Games. He wished her greater success at the Asian Games and an invitation to visit USA next year.  

Sarker interacted with Dipa’s coach Bisweswar Nandi as well. He congratulated B S Nandi for his guidance that propelled Dipa to her success.

Asked about how she looked at Asian Games after her success at the Commonwealth Games, Dipa said none of the contests could be considered inferior. “There are countries like South Korea which didn’t contest in the CWG. But then there were hard competitors that contested in the Commonwealth Games but wouldn’t be contesting the Asian Games”, she said.

Dipa said that she would be leaving for New Delhi for training on tomorrow (Thursday) to attend a training camp slated to start for the Asiain Games at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Delhi.
