AGARTALA, August 6 (TIWN): Investigating the 3 different cases of rape, kidnap and ablazing housewife to death for dowry, Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) demanded immediate arrest and stringent punishment against culprits.

Considering the investigation of 3 cases, TCW President with a member visited the victims’ houses. Initially, they visited the minor girl’s (13) house who was raped by her uncle at Hapania Gourgobindo Ashram Para under Amtali Police Station. But, she was at school that time and on Aug 05 her parents came to TCW office. According to their statement, the minor’s 20-year-old uncle on July 20 around 3 pm raped her taking the opportunity of her loneliness. As her mouth was tied with a piece of cloth, she could not shout.

After committing the crime, the accused threatened the victim to kill her if she discloses the incident. Later, a case was registered with Amtali PS on July 29. The victim underwent medical examination and her statement was put on records before the Magistrate. Police arrested the accused.

On the same day, TCW visited the minor girl at Lakshmilunga Tea Estate under Narshingarh Police Station who was tried to kidnap by a miscreant in police uniform. She stated, one person in police uniform asked her to go to school with him, but she denied. After her brother told her to go with him, she agreed.

The accused after covering a little distance asked her to go to his house with him. As she denied, he speeded up his bike and the girl jumped. She sustained severe injuries and underwent treatment in the hospital. Later, she lodged a case against the accused. Thereafter, TCW President visited with the housewife who was ablazed to death for dowry at Kalikamura under Sidhai Mohanpur Police Station. They had a conversation with the deceased’s mother.

She stated, despite fulfilling the demands of dowry during her daughter’s marriage, the latter’s in-laws including her husband and mother-in-law used to torture her both physically and mentally for more dowry. When the torture reached its peak, the housewife was set ablaze. Though case was registered, the accused husband is absconding yet. TCW demanded exemplary punishment against the accused.
