AGARTALA, August 5 (TIWN): Allegations were raised against the Principal of Tripura Law College intending one faculty of the college to hold a Doctorate in Law illegally triggering resentment among other faculties of Law College and the candidates who appeared for Research Eligibility Test (RET) at Tripura University.
The faculties and the RET candidates alleged that faculty Amal Debnath run errands under Principal R.K. Misra. Hence, in order to get the former opportunity for P.Hd in Law, Principal Misra through a mutual understanding with Prabin Misra, HOD of Law, Tripura University, entered the committee that will select candidates eligible for P.Hd.
A recently published advertisement, candidates were called to apply for P.Hd in a number of subjects including the subject of Law, said official sources. The advertisement mentioned 13 seats for P.Hd in Law. A secret source revealed that the total number of seats in the state is 3 and may be there was some mistake in the advertisement.
Candidates appeared for RET on July 30 to pursue P.Hd and the viva was held on July 31. Faculty Amal Debnath applied for P.Hd in Law. It is worthy to mention here that he is not the Professor of Law College. He is designated as POST Graduate Teacher (PGT). A section of faculties of Law College raised allegations that Debnath is a dubious person but he have to hardly face any problem with the backing of Principal Misra.
It is to be stated here that Amal Debnath allegedly assaulted one Professor Mr. Addhya, hailing from West Bengal a few days back inside the college campus triggering a negative reaction among the faculties of Law College. Shockingly, Principal Misra somehow hushed up the incident.
Apart from that, further allegations were raised against Debnath in Ambassa area being involved in various other scandals. But, R.K. Misra is trying his level best to get such a notorious person selected for P.Hd.
