AGARTALA, July 18 (TIWN): The demand of President's rule was raised by BJP here in Tripura meeting the Governor Tathagata Roy at Raj Bhawan.
According to BJP National leaders Sunil Deodhar, who is also the state observer of Tripura, ‘Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has totally failed to control the law and order situation in Tripura and under his paralyzed home ministry, IPFT has called blockade illegally over the road'.
Tension has gripped across Tripura, as IPFT via a demo has warned to commit suicide one by one, if their demands are not fulfilled.
In this situation state govt has dumped all the responsibilities on the Central govt and talked to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in this regard. CM also told Rajnath Singh to take his best decision.
When asked by BJP here, Rajnath Singh said, “I just heard what the Chief Minister said, but I didn’t agree with what he said”.
According to BJP, law and order comes under the state govt. So it’s state govt’s duty to control the tension there. If Central govt has to intervene then President's rule is needed.
In this regard BJP leaders met the Governor and asked him to discuss the issue with centre. Same, way, the Presidential rule concept has triggered tension in CPI-M party offices.
Moreover, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, who is also the Home Minister, has been blocked by BJP since the morning demanding to stop IPFT’s blockade over NH, Railway.
