Agartala, July 18 (TIWN): When State’s law and order on question, people are suffering due to the blockade called in demand of land-division, Tripura lameduck Chief Minister cum Home Minister Manik Sarkar has taken shelter at his residence amidst tight security provided around Marx Engels Sorony. With the warning of opposition BJP that will gherao the CM for an uncertain period of time until the blockade over state's lifeline is cleared, police have been given in every spots of the Capital City. All the opposition parties have expressed extreme resentment over Manik Sarkar’s silent role over the IPFT called blockade. When his people are suffering due to the strike over Tripura’s transports since 9 days, Chief Minister was found attending various programmes without any concern about the law and order.

However, before 3 days back BJP had announced it will go in massive protest and also to gherao CM, if the blockade is not withdrawn within 48 hours.

But neither the Chief Minister took the pain to visit the blockade spot, nor he sent his any minister there, rather he dumped all responsibilities on the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

2 points that was made clear by the BJPs were:

  1. State’s law and order is not under Rajnath Singh but under state home ministry that is heading by Manik Sarkar. So the blockade over transports will has to be withdrawn by state govt,
  2. A separate land’s demand never can be decided by the central govt. Only after the demand is passed in the state assembly it will go to the Centre.

However, source said BJP has been spread across the city and finally has stopped the movement of the Chief Minister.

On the other side, Congress has called a 12 hrs strike on Wednesday. In such a paralyzed condition Manik Sarkar’s police who were helplessly attacked by IPFTs at Champaknagar on Monday afternoon, now guarding the CM to save him from the opposition.
