AGARTALA, July 15 (TIWN): In 1992 then CPI-M State Secretary Manik Sarkar signed documents against Bengali migrants from Bangladesh, who were fleeing under Muslim attacks to save their lives. To grab power from Congress ruled Govt, Manik Sarkar advocated sealing the Indo-Bangla borders if CPI-M comes to power after 1992. CPI-M’s communal politics paid dividends as CPI-M grabbed power in 1993 but instead of sealing borders, CPI-M Ministers like Sahid Chowdhury to many senior CPI-M State committee leaders got involved into lucrative cross-border smuggling business. CPI-M Party’s cash reserves swelled every year with donations from various mafias, drug smugglers otherwise how State Govt can explain the existence of massive Tea Garden shaped Marijuana fields across Boxanagar,Sonamura to other regions ?

From 1993, when CPI-M came in power it has been long 25 years of its ruling over the state and 18 years when Manik Sarkar has been the Chief Minister of the state, but till day even after Central Govt's push, Tripura borders are unsealed in various pockets like Sonamura to help CPI-M backed narcotic smuggler network.

 Manik Sarkar, alongwith his trusted Minister Sahid Chowdhury (also a relative of Terrorist cum Drug smuggler Mamun Mia) turned Sonamura a Mini-Pakistan, hotbed of Jihadi activities by illegal influx of Bangladeshis without even VISA, Passport less people. Sonamura's Jihadi presence is nothing  new and smuggling, Marijuana(Ganja) plantations are the means of livelihood there. What will Sarkar say for his failure as the Chief Minister of Tripura to curb drug smuggling, illegal Ganja cultivations in State ?

Manik Sarkar in 1992 raised various sensitive issues targeting Bengalee population, also in a signed statement said as the CPI-M State Secretary:

1. Bangladeshi foreigners  must be identified & they must be kept in camps.

2. Central Govt must seal Tripura-Bangladesh border.

But today all have proven just CPI-M's agenda of fooling people by showing patriotism's drama. These two above mentioned points is necessary to remind him as he might has been forgotten due to his tight schedule of 24 years.Tripura’s 35 % unsealed Border issue may be resolved finally as Indo-Bangla Border forces discuss all the border related issues in this 4 day long meeting.

However, according to Govt. data Tripura shares 856 km India-Bangladesh and 85 per cent is fenced so far. Thus it can be said that Tripura’s 727 KM border is fenced but long 158 km is yet unfenced mostly due to non-cooperation of State’s CPI-M Govt.

Since few years, high alerts were sounded on the Indo-Bangla border in five states of West Bengal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam and Mizoram after the wake of the terror attack in Dhaka with the BSF stepping up its vigil. Accordingly, the BSF sought cooperation of all state and central intelligence units to ensure that no illegal cross-border movement takes place.

Already Modi Govt. sought CM’s help to sort out state’s boundary issue. But for Tripura Govt after 24 years of uninterrupted rule has failed to secure its border, neither the Govt. has any desire to cooperate with Central Govt so that narcotic smuggling corridor stays open for ‘business’.
