UDAIPUR, July 13 (TIWN): Amid various complaints about wrong medical treatments in Udaipur subdivisional Hospital, with another major setback blood pushing had threatened a life. When the matter came in public notice, it triggering much resentment among the patient parties and local people. A woman was to die due to wrong blood transferring in her body, although the matter revealed before it was pushed in her body. Earlier, in the same hospital a 14 years girl was pushed with expired saline that left her seriously ill. But with the Wednesday’s incident the 60 years woman was to die if the nurse couldn’t identify the wrong action that was to be accomplished by the hospital authority. On Wednesday afternoon, Mayarani Das (60) was admitted in Tripura Sundari Hospital. With the hemoglobin’s percentage was downed Doctor asked for pushing blood into her body as soon as possible. Immediately her son Samir Das went to the blood bank to collect blood for her. While the nurse was to push the patient she saw O+Ve and AB + Ve both written on the packet. But when the nurse asked doctors, two doctors gave different opinions.

Whereas one doctor said the blood is safe, another doctor strictly said that patient may die if the blood is given to her. With all these tension gripped the patient party, however at the end Dr Debashish Das sent the blood bag to the blood bank and fresh blood was brought.

This incident has created much resentment among the common people there.

Amidst the attempts of marginalizing the death rates, due to health dept’s corruption, negligence, wrong recruitment policy another mother at Udaipur had lost her 2 months son at Gomati Dist Hospital too.

In the month of May one  2 months baby Soutam Dey was taken by his parents to Gomati Dist Hospital, but his family members failed to save his life due to the negligence of doctors there. The poor parents of the deceased alleged that no doctor had checked up the child properly, whereas in the evening Swapna Sinha just as a part of ward round visited there, but without identifying the actual disease, the baby was pushed with saline.

Moreover, the hospital staffs also failed to give any bed to Soutam and kept him whole night outside. The parents also alleged that before pushing saline Soutam was playing, smiling but when the saline was pushed his health started to down. When the saline had been finished, the patient party asked the nurses and doctors about it, but nobody bothered to listen them. After an hour, the family again requested the nurses to check the baby as it was shivering in fever and crying constantly.

Seeing his condition serious nurses asked for oxygen, but amidst all these, the infant already passed away.  The relatives busted into tears, gheraoed the nurses, doctors and later brought the baby at National Highway alleging the common people that the Gomati Hospital has killed their child.

This is the overall scenario of Tripura Health Service where people’s lives have no guarantee to be safe. After such major incidents no investigation has done to the case yet now, neither any health dept official has visited the hospital.
